Capcom has struck gold with Devil May Cry. It is beatem up action with great variety, intense boss battles, and pure hellish fun. Dante can use swords or guns right on the fly without having to equip and re-equip weapons. The action is intense. You can pummel enemies with your sword, or just pump them full of lead with dual handguns. Dante's aresnal will grow over the course of the game, so you don't have to stick with the primary equipment. The graphics are quite good for a beginning PS2 game, and the heavy metal soundtrack is awesome, especially during boss fights. There are hidden missions and unlockables to discover to extend the game and keep the gameplay fresh. The action is ferociously intense and challenging in boss battles, which make the game ever the more fun. The only thing that brings this game down is the camera. It will change angles often when you move into another section on an area. This can be very annoying during boss fights. Sometimes you willl find yourself struggling to keep the boss in your sights. There is also little explanation of the story throughout the game, which makes you wonder who this mysterious character Dante truly is. Despite these small details, the game is one of the best PS2 titles there is. This game is very challenging, especially on the higher difficulties. If you describe yourself as a hardcore gamer, buy this game NOW! (Unless you have not already ;) Your PS2 collection is not complete without Devil May Cry.
