Metal Gear fans have been waiting for a game like this. With the complicated story of Metal Gear Solid 2, and Snake Eater hitting shelves this November, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes is one of the best stealth/action games in a while. The story, weapons, and cast of villains make this a must-have for all GameCube owners. You are Solid Snake, a lone agent sent in to rescue the DARPA chief, Donald Anderson, and the ArmsTech President, Kenneth Baker. After that objective is complete, you must find out if the terrorist group, FOXHOUND, has the ability to launch a nuclear missle, and stop them is they do. Sound exciting? You haven't heard the half of it. When Metal Gear Solid was released in 1998 on the Sony PlayStation, it had no rendered cutscenes and limited abilities. Many changes have been made to create Twin Snakes. First of all, the graphics have been given a huge overhaul, with many more cutscenes. More abilities are now available also; Snake can now hang from ledges, peek and shoot around corners, and shoot in first-person view. Some new music has been thrown into the mix as well. Of course, there are some cons. Accents have been taken away from Mei Ling and Naomi, making them talk monotonously (especially Naomi). Also, some humor has been taken out of the game (although Johnny Sasaki stayed :) ). The VR missions were also taken out. Other than that, most of the game stays true to the original. Featuring better graphics, gameplay, and some new features (collecting dog tags, boss survival mode, etc.), Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes is a must have for any gamer. Now all we have to hope for is the VR missions!
