Was it a good way to go out? Dreamcast's last game was, fortunately, a very good way to go down in flames. As they say, the captain always goes down with his ship, well, this one managed to get away. SA2 features two game modes, the evil mode, and the good mode. Play as the good mode and you get to play as Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles. If you choose the evil side you play as Shadow, the new hedgehog, Rouge, a bat, and the evil Dr. Eggman (Robotnik). The graphics are smooth, but what gets most is the sheer speed of battle! When you're flying around with Knuckles or Rouge, you actually FEEL like you're in a 3D virtural world. The control scheme is just as solid as the original, but the gameplay is slightly different. For now, you choose the stage on a type of menu, unlike the 1st where you were in a huge world itself. This new type can actually be disturbing, since in the original, you could see the story through everyone's eyes, while in this one, the plot has no particular view. Yet with smooth graphics and interesting gameplay, Sonic Adventure 2 is a good way to go out. G R A P H I C S - 4.5 Lightning fast graphics and great textures add to the realism. But on occasion, the FPS will slooooooooooow doooooooooown. S O U N D - 4.5 The music is fast paced and good. But the characters are terribly synced, even for Japanese models. C O N T R O L - 4.5 The control scheme is basically the same as the old one, besides the minor things. The only problem is that it seems more slippery, and the camera can really kill. F U N F A C T O R - 4.0 SA2's only flaw is the way the game is played out. Instead of one huge world and six different stories, there are but 2 stories in many tiny worlds. And the inability to play with Tails and Sonic in the same level can be depressing. Definately look into the original Sonic Adventure before making a verdict.
