Graphics:HITZ has some really nice eye candy.From the character animations to smoke,fire,lightning,and rinks its all nice to look at.The fantasy rinks such as the shark tank and graveyard just to name two are nice.Ive been playing ice hockey since the days of the NES Blades of Steel and boy have they come a long way!The fans are finally done in 3D They are no longer coardboard cut outs like they have always been in sport games .I give the graphics a 4.5 Sound:The sound in HITZ is nice.The soundtrack in this game can rock!It includes bands such as Staind Fuel and Korn just to name a few.The on the ice sounds are nice with no real complaints.The only gripe I have is the one I always have with sports games the commentary gets old after awhile and begins to repeat but then again its only a game so no real harm done I will say that he is nice to listen to at first. I give the sound a 4.5 Control/Gameplay:Well first of all the gameplay is simple its hockey! (lol) But really the controls are pretty basic and have a somewhat low learning curve you ll be hitting the ice in no time with HITZ no real gripes for the controls.I give this catagory a 4.5 Last but certainly not LEAST is the FunFactor and of course with every game out there this is what it is all about FUN! And does HITZ shine here HITZ gets a 5.0 for fun.Its replay deserves a 5.0 here aswell.It offers you a handful of mini games to test your skills and improve them aswell .You can unlock over a dozen teams and characters and some new looks for you create a teams aswell as new fantasy rinks.It also has a 4 player mode which is nice anytime with a sports game.I only hope that when 2003 hits the 'Cube the system and game will both be online now that will be SWEET! Now stop reading this and go grab a copy!If youlike the way Midway did the other part of this series(NFL BLITZ)then you will fall for HITZ aswell.
