Motocross Mania: The series that could have been...

Motocross Mania starts out with pixelated logos and pre-credits. It all seems like a usual game, but as soon as the MXM FMV starts, you can't help but feel like a MX addict. However, when it comes to the actual game, results may vary. The game as far, as I can tell, is not a bad play at all. The graphics are a bit premitive for the PSX (release date included), but the overall gameplay and replay value are among the best I've felt on a PSX. Actually, most players insist the soundtrack makes the game... I agree. Wrath Child and Terrafirma 5 have done a great job performing the possibly best soundtrack on the Playstation. Overall, if all you care about is audio, then MXM is a no-brainer for you, but if you insist that graphics make the game, then you may be in for a disappointment. The game, sadly, has poor image quality and is very tough to play (advanced tracks). But, the real plus in gameplay is the variety of MX stunts you can perform. It is really too bad that MXM transitioned from this one-of-a-kind into a toony mess, but it will always remain one of my top 5 picks on the PSX.
