Madden NFL 2002: A shaky passing game, but still the king of PS2 football.

With unparalleled player animation, and much more fluid gameplay, this is the best football game you're ever going to buy for the PS2. Madden 2002 is filled to the brink with tons of modes and customizable options. Some of my favorites include the Practice mode, where you can easily develop better blocking skills, improved go-to passing, and the ability to break from route passing (a necessary skill!)--to the Training mode, where Madden himself gives you a walkthrough of the very basic offensive formations and how each play develops. My only beef with the game is its inconsistent defensive back coverage. Sometimes, with Randy Moss, you can't even get around the Browns corners. With Shannon Sharpe, you'll occasionally be stopped cold by even the worst safety. This is often frustrating! The running game is simply flawless though. (Good for other running fans like me.) But, as an even bigger fan of defense, Madden 2002 somewhat disappointed me with its intangibles. Interceptions are just one of many intangibles that you must ALLOW (and not control) in this game. Leave it up to the computer. With all this, this game WILL keep you satisfied for months. Well worth the retail!
