Welcome to the Microsoft world, yes in this wonderful world we take whatever someone likes, and add our own little spin on it. Read on to find out what I mean. Mechwarrior 4 is the newest in a long series of computer games based on Battletech, a board game that has been around for nearly 20 years. With established rules for building 'Mechs, what 'Mechs and weapons exist, and a rich history...but Microsoft doesn't want you to know this. No Microsoft presents you with Mechwarrior 4, a game that blatently ignores just about every rule in the Battletech universe. Weapons don't do the right amount of damage, you can't modify your mech like you should be able to, and (some higher power help me) it's still a good game. Sure the Graphics are beautiful, the controls are tight, and the acting is bad (Every Battletech game has had bad acting) and I'm pretty sure that some of the AI could use a lobotamy. But it's presented in such a way that you don't notice the downfalls. This is a very fun game, beginning to end, and a very large, and easy to use Multiplayer that's easily twice the fun of the single player. Bottom line if you are a Battletech purist; look at it as Mechwarrior Lite, not that true simulation you were looking for, and you'll have fun. Bottom line if you have never heard the words Battletech; If you like action, and are willing to read up a bit on weapons and such, you will have a great time stomping around in your big robot.
