Donkey Kong Country: I don't care it's old!

So I was sitting around, regretting all of the turkey I had consumed the previous day. Nothing to do, nothing to do... Why not play a little Donkey Kong Country? I fired up that bad boy and had a blast. It's been so long since I've played that game and I can't believe how much fun it still is. It might not be the best game of all time, but it sure was fun. The graphics were on par with nearly any other game at the time. What gets me is the level design. The secret areas (even the bananas hidden under the ground for DK to pound out) are a blast. It might be a linear, 2D game, but it gives you that sense of freedom like in the early Mario games. Maybe it's just me, but I really miss those games... I know some have been re-released and there are "new" games out that play similarly, but it's not the same. The simple, catchy, looping music. The bright colors. All so much fun. I just hope you all still have your SNES...
