Blog Post: Yet Another Reason Not to Visit Gamestop Subscribe to this RSS feed

Online Movie and Video Game swapping service, Hitflip, claims that gamers lose 50% of their games' value when they trade them in.

"If you take cash you'll get 15% less for your trade-in!"

MCV reports that Hitflip, an online service that allows people to trade movies and video games, has claimed that games lose 50% of their value when they get traded in - a statistic that makes Hitflip's service seem more appealing. Considering how much of a hassle it is to visit Gamestop, what with the pretentious retailers and gimmicky soft-sales, It's a wonder that the chain is still thriving. Well if you were wondering how Gamestop makes all it's money, now you know. They buy back games at an insultingly low price and sell them back for an exorbitant amount. It's highway robbery, I tell you!

If you think a 50% trade-in loss is bad, check out this story from Actiontrip about a Gamestop that sold a demo disc as a full game. Shady. The watermark that said, "Demo: Not for Resale" was apparently blackened out with a sharpie. Here's a hint If you buy and sell used games on ebay, or anywhere other than a retailer, you'll likely be richer in the long run.

Hey, Thanks: MCV & Actiontrip

yeah you as peerson trading in lose 50% but them cock suckers dont they sell for three sometimes 4 times what they give you for games. they are rip of snakes in the grasses. thats why whenever i decide to get rid of a game i no longer want or use or if it just blows. i out it on ebay and end up with more then would if sold to gamestop. but i dont really get rid of any of my games unless they are really bad.

Thats why i never trade in my games. They will give you pennies for it, then turn around and sell it for like 30 or something along those lines. No thanks i rather let them gather dust.

Fellow gamers - I was tired of getting ripped off by EB and GameStop. Plus, I did not trust sending my games through other game trading sites So, I created www.ReplayGamez.com, the safest online trading site. Check it out The ReplayGamez Team www.ReplayGamez.com
