Blog Post: The Story Behind Okami's Wii-tastic Port Subscribe to this RSS feed
Capcom's Blog discusses how and why Okami is coming to the Wii. We wonder if this port sets the franchise up for a sequel.
This guy's excited about Okami on the Wii. Too bad he won't own a Wii until 2010 - bust.
Okami seemed like a natural fit to utilize the Wii's controllers, and thanks to the hassling of the people on Capcom's message boards, it has come to fruition. In the company's blog, Christian Svensson extensively details how Okami received it's second shot on the Wii:
"So at the same time, we started thinking of several "what if?" statements. What if we took a second shot with Okami's content on another console? A platform people were repeatedly asking for it on? A platform that could help with some of the core mechanics of the game? And now that it was already semi-known and loved for sure by the media, it's no longer technically a new IP. It really deserved a second chance. Thankfully, others in our organization felt the same way."
Capcom has already done well with the Wii with providing quality ports, and new games as seen with Resident Evil 4, and Zack & Wiki. In fact, Capcom is providing quality games for the all current generation consoles.
Okami's second chance could prove vital for a sequel. But without Capcom's now defunct Clover Studios, a sequel may be out of the question.
Hey, Thanks: Capcom Blog
