Blog Post: A Rock Band in high demand Subscribe to this RSS feed
Despite the fact that it's going to be monumentally expensive, EA is confident that Rock Band will be a massive hit in short supply.
Best Buy only has so many copies! You should have reseved a copy!
Rock Band is already a hot commodity, and it's not even out yet. Next-Gen reveals that John Riccitillo, CEO of Electronic Arts, is promising no guarantees for everyone who wants the "band-in-a-box" that it will be readily available after it releases:
"If I were you, on the 19th of November, I would get in line outside of your favorite retailer, because we've got one hot product," said EA CEO John Riccitillo during a conference call Wednesday. "We've got a lot of inventory coming, my expectation is that it'll sell through... Just remember, on November 19th you're going to be waiting in line, unless you've got a buddy that works at one of our retailers, otherwise you're not going to have it for Christmas."
The Rock Band bundle which includes the guitar, drums, and microphone sounds like the best purchase for those who want the entire set. The official instruments will not be sold separately until next year. Amazon () and Gamestop are listing the guitar and drums for $79.99 (PS3 guitar: $59.99), and the mic for $29.99. Harmonix has mentioned that the Guitar Hero III guitar will work with Rock Band, and other third party instruments as well.
Those who are expecting to just stroll into the retailer and pick it up, you may want to think again. If EA is expecting high sales despite the high price, you better start packing up the camping gear! Rock Band bundle will be in stores on November 20, and retail at $169.99 for both Xbox360 and Playstation 3. The game itself will be priced at $59.99. Happy camping everyone!
Hey, thanks: Next-Gen
