Mario's Brother comes to Galaxy in his first appearance in an official Mario adventure since Super Mario World.

Luigi may jump higher and farther than Mario, but does he have as much rainbow power?

Luigi may jump higher and farther than Mario, but does he have as much rainbow power?

That's right, Luigi finally gets some lovin' from Nintendo. The other half of the Mario Bros. will officially make his appearance in a console Mario adventure for the first time. Kotaku reports, via the strategy guide, that Luigi will be playable in the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy:

"Yes, Luigi will be playable once again in a proper Super Mario adventure, but only after you've secured 120 stars, completed the purple coin missions, and defeated Bowser a second time. According to the alleged guide scan 'Luigi jumps higher and further, and also runs faster, but has trouble stopping. They each have the same moves, such as the long-jump or backflip, but the difference in their basic jump, running speed, and stopping ability makes completing the game harder.'"

It's a nice homage to the palette swap of the old days, even though Luigi is unlockable and not available at the outset. And some incentive to collect all 120 stars is cool considering Super Mario Sunshine didn't really have anything rewarding for collecting all the shines sprites.

Although not technically "together" Its been long time since the brothers teamed up to save... well, anything. Do you think that playing through Galaxy as Luigi will make Daisy the damsel instead of Peach? We can expect to find out when Super Mario Galaxy hits stores on November 12.

Hey, Thanks: Kotaku
