Sony's holiday action-epic is almost here, and we've uncovered the latest word on Uncharted: Drake's Fortune!

Emaciated pirates never stood a chance.

Emaciated pirates never stood a chance.

During the PlayStation era, it was about all Crash Bandicoot. PlayStation 2; Jax and Daxter. Now, on the PlayStation 3, Naughty Dog looks to forge a new icon with Nathan Drake from Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. In a Q&A session with Gamespot, co-owner Evan Wells talks about why the studio decided to create a new property instead of revisiting its past:

"It really is the motivational factor partly, and also because we develop a franchise to really take advantage of the hardware we're making it for. And we felt that with Jak and Daxter--the way we were doing it on a PS2--was engineered to take advantage of the PS2. We were stylised with our characters because of the limitations of the hardware. We felt on the PS3 it was time to go fully armed and onto human characters set in the modern day."

Uncharted looks to do that in every way. Packed with breathtaking visuals from beautiful scenery to explosive action, Well's stated that Uncharted was developed to be a franchise. You can expect to see more of Nathan Drake in the future.

While being compared as the male equivalent of Lara Croft, Well promised that the only thing similar about the two are both treasure seekers. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune went gold on Oct. 23, and will be in stores on November 20.

Hey, thanks: Gamespot

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune seems to be a really good platformer with tight and fun action. In some other platformers the action is usually a bit dulled down in take for the interesting jumps, climbs and puzzle solving. But Uncharted looks to sew all those elements plus action up into one great game. I'm definitely looking forward to playing it.
