It looks like Nintendo is on track to make the first Olympic Games game that's worth playing.
Perhaps Nintendo will come up with a way to footrace without mindless button mashing.
I love the Olympics. Always have, and probably always will. However, I can't stand video games based on the Olympics because they're always so darned bad. For whatever reason, be it the incompatibility of Olympic sports and video game technology or incompetent design crews, I have just never played a good Olympic Games game.
Well, considering the success of Nintendo's Wii Sports and the console's inclination towards kinetics, I think the Wii is the best console to ever host the virtual Olympic Games. And, with Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Nintendo has removed the question of whether one's favorite athlete is doped-up by replacing real athletes with Mario, Sonic and friends, who we know are ALL doping. Balco be damned, I want some of those magic mushrooms.
Mario's team, (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Bowser, Yoshi, Wario and Waluigi) will compete against Sonic's team (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Dr. Robotnik, Shadow, Amy, Blaze and Vector) in the following events:
- Fencing - Individual epée
- Archery
- Shooting - Skeet
- Gymnastics - Trampoline
- Gymnastics - Vault
- Field - High Jump
- Field - Pole Vault
- Field - Long Jump
- Field - Triple Jump
- Field - Javelin Throw
- Field - Hammer Throw
- Rowing - Single Sculls
- Table Tennis - Singles
- Aquatics - 100m Freestyle
- Aquatics - 4x100m Freestyle
- Track - 110m and 400m Hurdles
- Track - 4x100m Relay
- Track -100m and 400m
Each character has their own respective strengths and weaknesses. Mario, for example, is an all around athlete, while Bowser is a power athlete. In addition there will be several different game modes and un-lockable venues. Finally an Olympic Games game with variety and character!

sonic is in last place because of him not being able to catch dr. robotnick like in all of the games so they can't just let him pass him up in this game too.hahaha
