NIGHTS may have wings, but you won't be flappin' them. We've collected the latest impressions of this highly-anticipated title.
We can't wait to get our hands on NIGHTS, even if they won't be put to good use.
Ever since its announcement, many have assumed that the acrobatic, androgynous protagonist of the Wii title NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams would be controlled with the use of motion sensing. Apparently this is not the case as Joystiq reports from Tokyo Game Show:
"Bizarrely, tellingly and somewhat amusingly, the Tokyo Game Show demo of NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams makes no use of motion controls whatsoever. The analog stick on the nunchuck controls movement, the A-button speeds you up and.... well, that's pretty much it."
In an earlier report by IGN, Producer Takashi Iizuka noted that there would be some type of motion gestures:
"Iizuka-san said that the game can be played with gestures using the Wii remote, but he also noted that he didn't want to alienate gamers who had come to cherish the classic title."
Now in the latest hands-on impressions from IGN, it confirms what Joystiq reports:
"The Wii version's controlled via the Nunchuk's analog stick, and the Wii remote's only being used for its buttons - no waggle."
It seems that NiGHTS has rescinded back to being a traditional based control scheme. The player control NiGHTS through the analog attachment, and with the A-button on the Wii remote. Despite not utilizing the Wii's motion control, IGN and Joystiq noted that its impressions were both positive.
