Blog Post: BioShock ain't for sharing, says 2K. Subscribe to this RSS feed
Remember the day when you'd share a game with your siblings, taking turns and enjoying a game independently but sharing similar experiences? 2K doesn't.
BioShock should be like this big fluffy rainbow.
Man, if they hadn't published such an awesome game, the folks at 2K Games would be in a world of trouble for all of the PR gaffes the company's been committing in regards to BioShock. First there was the widescreen/fullscreen conundrum and licencing agreement gaffes from a few weeks back. Now Kotaku's reporting another odd comment coming from 2K's camp.
A member of the 2K forums recently complained that the PC version of BioShock does not allow multiple users to access the game without multiple activations. 2K Tech support member "JT" answered "The other way to view this, is one USER has purchased the game. Not the whole family. So why should your brother play for free?"
I'm guessing that this could be a method to circumvent a multi-profile computer allowing far too many people access to the game (like at, say an internet cafe), but the company has once again put its foot in its mouth with the above comment. Sharing a game with family members is about as common a practice as there could be in gaming, and as innovative as BioShock is, it shouldn't be pioneering annoying features like multiple serial number entries on the SAME MACHINE. 2K, sharing is caring. So show you care and patch this problem but fast.
Hey, thanks: Kotaku
