Blog Post: Why I'm extremely jealous of Kotaku Subscribe to this RSS feed
Worldwide recognition, millions of readers, tons of credibility? Meh. Getting the PSP Slim before me? Now I'm envious.
Above: Hefty, hefty, hefty! Below: Wimpy, wimpy, wimpy!
Kotaku Editor-in-Chief Brian Crecente has been lucky enough to be graced by the presence of the slimmed-down, TV-friendly PSP. He's posted a pretty hearty summary of what the new(ish) gadget is capable of over a series of posts, but I've picked out a few things that caught my eye like a fishhook.
--In order to make use of the system's much-touted TV display mode, you must purchase proprietary component or composite cables. Wha?! Making customers pay extra to make use of the system's primary benefit is the weakest of sauces.
--The PSP comes with a new firmware that features the ability to store data on your PSP for faster loading as well as allowing you to charge the portable via USB. Makes me wonder; will the standard PSP be able to do this stuff with a firmware upgrade, or will each system be running on a separate firmware upgrade system?
--As Crecente states in his video, this thing still doesn't have a proper name. Sony marketers, please tell us what to call it before the internet starts a PSP Slim vs. PSP Lite civil war.
--As of yet, Crecente hasn't filmed the PSP's TV playback. Does he not understand how badly we want to watch a portable play on a TV on our computer? I'm really hoping that if he does, he makes it downloadable so I can watch it on my PSP.
Hey, thanks: Kotaku

I plan on trading in my old PSP to get the new one. Its easy to carry around a little USB cord to charge it up, much easier than lugging around that charger. Its funny to see people in the gaming media jealous of others in the gaming media. Because all of us wish we had your job.
