Samus finally comes to the Wii. We've gathered all the reviews from around the net to determine whether Prime 3 really adds up to it's predecessors.

Here at last!

Here at last!

I've been waiting for this day for a very long time. Years ago Metroid Prime blew me away. Years later Metroid Prime 2: Echoes blew... sort of. And now Corruption is here to pinch the epic loaf known as Prime.

Of course the biggest question is whether the controls are really as awesome as they say. After E3 many were comparing it to PC shooters like Counter Strike. Some even believed it had the best controls of any console based FPS. Besides the controls there's also the issue of graphics; whether Corruption nails the ambiance of previous titles. And, does the plot make for a convincing and satisfying finale to the Prime series?

First, the controls. Many claim that Prime 3 has finally done the Wii remote justice. Not only does provide a fluid experience, it makes for a unique first person shooter that plays unlike any other. Here's how 1up reviewed Prime 3's control scheme:

"Don't worry, it probably won't click until you try it yourself, and even then, the first couple hours are disorienting. But given time (and a couple menu tweaks -- the "advanced" sensitivity option helps a lot), frustration melts into appreciation for what this new setup makes possible: kick-ass combat."

Since the controls don't, in any way, detract from Prime 3's overall level of quality, let's move onto the next topic - graphics. GameSpot gives us a taste of what to expect:

"While it isn't a huge step over Metroid Prime 2 in terms of sheer graphical quality, there are plenty of elements that will catch your eye, such as Samus' visor reflections, or the detailed, complex machinery that brings some of the environmental puzzles to brilliant life."

Indeed, Prime 3 looks only slightly more polished than Prime 2. If you're like me and can do without all the bells and whistles then you'll be more interested in Prime 3's story line. IGN breaks it down:

"Combined with a bevy of atmospheric and well-choreographed cut-scenes, the storyline in Prime 3 takes shape and flows much more smoothly and believably than it has in previous titles. At one moment, you're gliding across a caged platform in a cinematic designed to mask a level load time and in another, you're fighting alongside Federation Troopers in a scene that seems inspired by something out of Halo."

In all it seems that Prime 3 has pretty much met our expectations. It's controls are fluid, precise and a hell of a lot of fun. It's graphics are not shabby in any sense; it just looks like a gamecube game to those of us who've been staring at Bioshock the past week. The art-direction and storyline still make this game a perfect entry to the Metroid library and a must-have for Wii owners.

Hey, Thanks: 1up, IGN & GameSpot

Glad you didn't include the GamePro review. That guy had no clue whatsoever.
