Blog Post: Project Gotham 4 Dated, Hidden Minigame Anticipated Subscribe to this RSS feed
Bizarre Creations' critically-acclaimed racer is returning to the Xbox 360. We're confident it'll bring the speed, but what else will be packed on that disc?
Includes a racing game!
Joystiq reported earlier today that Bizarre Creaton's Project Gotham Racing 4 will be gracing Xbox 360 consoles with it's presence in only a few weeks with an October 2nd release date. Normally, racing sims ain't my bag--I'll take the Burnout series over Forza and Gran Turismo anyday--but the Project Gotham series has a unique hold on me. The game's emphasis on style--apparent in the gameplay, graphics, and audio--have consistently impressed me. The upcoming iteration is no different,as it looks to offer even sweeter-looking locales and nicer rides, including motorcycles. But what of Bizarre's secret weapon; Geometry Wars?
Neatly tucked away in the last two Gotham games was a Asteroids-inspired space shooter known as Geometry Wars. The game was a pleasant addition to the previous games, and served as a springboard to an updated release on Xbox Live Arcade as Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved, where it became a huge success. With the Geometry Wars series moving onto the Wii and Nintendo DS, Bizarre obviously has bigger things in store for that franchise. The company does realize the growing pedigree of being associated with Project Gotham, promising Kotaku that PGR4 will have "something along those lines." Is it a new direction for the GW series? Another new arcade title altogether? Bizarre has a tall order in PGR 4--not only does the company have to improve on one of the Xbox 360's best racers, but it has to provide a minigame on par with Xbox Live Arcade's best. I think Bizarre's up to it.
