With the first EA Mac titles in years hitting the computer platform, we take a look at the Mac's bright future.
Futuristic death and destruction. Now on Mac!
Electronic Arts pledged support for Apple's Mac a while back and it's keeping its promise on August 21 when the company releases its first games for Apple's Macintosh computers. EA's press release states:
"All games will also be available at Apple's retail stores nationwide. Need for Speed Carbon and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will be available on Tuesday, August 21, and Battlefield 2142 and Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars will be available on Tuesday, August 28."
Along with EA, id promised its new title Rage will be also appearing on the Mac platform and Epic said that Unreal Tournament 2007 and Gears of War will come along for the ride as well. Also, Blizzard has always supported Mac and StarCraft II will be making it stop on the platform too.
EA is launching some good titles with Battlefield and Command & Conquer for the Mac. It looks like Mac owners are getting some of the gaming pie from EA. Although Madden and Tiger woods are still absent, they likely will make it to the party a bit later.
Things look sort of bright for the Mac with it getting titles from EA, id, Epic, and Blizzard. What's more amazing is the new iMacs featuring new DX10 video cards from ATI. That could very well mean that Mac could handle upcoming PC games like Crysis via Bootcamp.
The computer gaming landscape just got a bit more interesting.
