Opening day predictions and the mysterious Halo 3 Epsilon.

"Buy the Limited Edition Halo 3 package..."

Today, only about a month and a half away from the epic release of Halo 3, analysts are predicting that Halo 3's first day of revenue will demolish Spider-Man 3's box office record of $151 million. That's right, with 1 million pre-orders Halo 3 is looking to make more in one single day than the biggest box-office smash made in an entire weekend.

In an interview with Variety, Chris Di Cesare, Microsoft's director of creative marketing said that it looks to break Halo 2's record of $125 million by partnering with Pepsi, 7-11, Pontiac and Burger King.

To further this hype, Xbox live users have reportedly noticed other users sporting the "Last seen playing Halo 3 Epsilon" status. These users are apparently Microsoft and Bungie employee's playing the near-final build of Halo 3.

Joystiq got the scoop from an anonymous source saying that,

"The Epsilon features six maps, four-player co-op for one campaign mission, saved film testing and some customization options with the games and maps."

It might not be the final game, but I'm still jealous as hell.

Hey, Thanks Destructoid & Joystiq

I think MS is whoring out Halo too much. First the Zune ( who wants a zune?) Then the Halo edition 360, now that was okay. Now Mt. Dew cans whit Halo's own Master Chief tatted on them, alright now you've gone too far.

Yes the Halo franchise is totally overrated. They should just stick to making games, not making soda covered pictures of Halo 3. Its gone WAY TOO far when they are releasing Halo 3 wireless controllers and Halo 3 wireless headset.

It isn't as though anyone who's currently salivating over Halo 3 really cares whether the game is getting too much hype and has become little more than the goose that MS is hoping will lay some tasty golden eggs... They just want the game and good ol' MS has gotten the hooks in and has no plans of letting up till the money is in the bank and the shelves are bereft of Halo 3 discs. You know, just business.

I don't think that Halo 3 is not overrated, Bungie has included various new things in the game, such as the 4 player co-op, new maps and new guns. I personally liked Halo: Combat Evolved, but i never got to play Halo 2 because i never owned an Xbox. I migh pick it up for the PC (Halo 2) and probably next year...I'll pick up Halo 3 for the PC.
