The top mind behind Fable gushed about the game's new features and griped about the competition in a recent interview.

Fable 2 looks to turn some heads in the RPG realm. Kikzo interviewed lead designer Peter Molyneux and sat down with him for a hands-on preview of the sequel. With a new, revamped combat system that's like a rhyrthm-music title, the game's fights are unlike any other, as Kikzo's Adam Doree describes:

"But as more colour came into the screen, reinforcing how well the player is supposedly doing, our confidence started to pick up. The rhythm 'subconsciously' tells us what the attack rhythm should be, we're advised, and rewards us with different sounds coming in, to form the unique music. Deeper bass sounds boomed in, like a thumping heart beat."

While the player can button-mash, Molyneux notes that it will not be as effective as the rhythm and well placed timing combat that he emphasizes. It seems that the Fable 2 will incorporate more of an epic feel with its orchestral music and camera cuts

.

Along with the new fighting system, the much talked about companion, in a form of a dog, promises some advanced A.I.abilities. Also, interactive cutscenes will be apart of the big, open-ended sequel.

Peter Molyneux is known for his outspoken nature, and he didn't disappoint when he compared Fable 2 to other notable RPGs today:

"It's amazing for a role playing game, because most role playing games are shit! Oblivion was a great game, but the combat was rubbish; we all talked about it being rubbish. So imagine you had a great role-playing game and really, really good combat system."

While he maybe quite outspoken, it doesn't take away that Fable 2 is still a game to watch for on the Xbox 360. Either way, it looks to promise some new gameplay experiences.

Hey, thanks: Kikzo
