Guitar Hero Encore: Rock's the 80's rocks my mailbox...

Please no, not again...

Please no, not again...

At first glance it may seem that the team over at Harmonix mailed this one in. Yes, Guitar Hero Encore: Rock's the 80's is a total clone of Guitar Hero II with a song list of 80's pop-musical keystones. This is all well and good since 80's pop has so much novelty that the music has worked into an impenetrable niche. The problem with Encore: Rock's the 80's is that, like the 80's, it's too expensive! Check out what other critics are saying.

1up laments Encore's all 80's set list:

"Part of the problem comes from trying to include a little bit of something for everyone, which winds up satisfying nobody. What makes this such a glaring weakness is that, regardless of what you like, you'll be able to fill a long list with all the "but what about...?" tracks you'll wish were in the game."

So is it worth the $49.99 price tag? Gamedaily says:

"We, on the other hand (the Guitar Hero vets that we are), refuse to pay a ridiculous $49.99 for a game that not only reuses all of Guitar Hero II's modes, but also its venues and screens (including the loading screen- that's just lazy). This bodes well for gamers interested in a little co-op action, with one player on lead guitar and another on bass, but we expected at least one new mode."

My brother wants to buy this but I told why if its too goddamn expensive. $50 for 30 songs = total ripoff. This one is more of a rental.
