The hardcore may be dismayed about the new, casual titles announced at E3, but the future looks bright for both camps, as we've discovered.
The consensus is uneven on the Wii Balance Board.
With Nintendo's introduction of the new Wii Balance Board, many of the core gamers are left with the impression that Nintendo's attention is fully on the casual gaming audience. Shigeru Miyamoto doesn't think so with Nintendo's new strategy. Slashdot transcribed a bit of Kotaku's recent video interview, including this tasty tidbit:
"Aonuma believes that control can be pick-up-and-play, but that doesn't necessarily mean a game overall has to be easier. But he still states that his 'goal was always to appeal to...a vast audience."
While Nintendo has seriously taken some major resources to focus on casual gamers with the introduction of Wii Fit, the current line up of upcoming games, shows plenty of hardcore-friendly games still coming.
Some of this year's key third party games include Ghost Squad, NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, No More Heroes, and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. The company's first party games are even a bit more impressive with Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. While some may be concerned that Nintendo is gearing towards the casual sect, it doesn't seem like the Wii is skipping anybody for the rest of 2007.
Although it was quite disheartening to hear from Go Nintendo that games like Project H.A.M.M.E.R. and the Kirby Wii are on hold, we are excited to hear about new IPs, particularly from Eiji Aunoma, as Miyamoto stated:
"Aunoma also hopes to venture into new territory and create a wholly original game at some point in his career."
Looks like Wii owners even have some more to look forward to.
Hey, thanks: Slashdot

Some of the wii fit games just don't do it for me. I mean if i wanted to move my hips like that i would just get a real hula hoop and then get a real beating. Men don't hula.
