Blog Post: Leggo of licences, Lego! Subscribe to this RSS feed
With rumors of Lego Indiana Jones along with two other Lego games, we may be headed towards a future in which all licenses are done in Lego form.
I must admit, a Lego Short Round would be awesome.
There's a rumor rumbling round Kotaku that LucasArts is set to announce a few new titles this week at E3, one being another spinoff to the company's cash cow of late: Lego adaptations of movies. This one? Lucas' "other" blockbuster movie franchise, Indiana Jones.
Now, normally, a rumor like this would have me tickled pink, but I'm starting to think that LucasArts and developer Traveller's Tales have milked the concept so hard that the udders are starting to bleed. There's the recently-announced Lego Star Wars Complete Saga, which is not the droid (ie- Wii lightsaber title) we were looking for despite the glowing praise IGN has heaped upon it. Warner Brothers has also commissioned a Lego Batman game, which could stem the tide of bad Bat-games. We haven't seen much of it, but the two-player action could lend itself well to the dynamic duo of Batman and Robin. Also, since the game's not tie
Now comes a rumored Lego Indiana Jones iteration. The idea of using the Wii Remote as a whip may be appealing, but what else does the movie franchise have to lend to the Lego formula? There's no real substantial sidekicks that would make multiplayer believeable--sorry, but Short Round, Indy Sr., and that dude that got creamed at the beginning of Raiders don't quite cut it. We'll see what Lucas has on tap later this week, but barring a revolutionary new Lego engine, Indy could be the License of Doom.
