Blog Post: That ain't right: Mario Kart Wii to stop at Europe first? Subscribe to this RSS feed

Europe may be getting a high-profile game before the US. We're as shocked as you are. Check out the bizarre details.

This is Europe. Sometime videogames come out there

According to a rumor on N-Europe "sources"claim that Mario Kart Wii will hit Europe first. Here's the lowdown:

"Mario Kart for the Wii will be a "replacement" for Super Smash Bros. Brawl in Europe, which will sadly miss Europe this year, and it will be out early 2008 instead. However, this also means that the US will not see Mario Kart until early 2008, and they will be getting Smash Bros. Brawl in 2007."

It's very strange for Europe to obtain a game first before the United States (Mario Strikers is an exception, because they actually like soccer over there, apparently), especially with a title like Mario Kart that is very popular here in America. If the rumor is true, then it's a trade-off for both countries as one stellar title will be delayed for both countries. What's more awkward is that relatively no information has been released about the Wii version of Mario Kart. Look for that to change at the Electronic Entertainment Expo this week.

It's been rumored (according to Kotaku) that Nintendo will unveil Mario Kart for the Wii at E3 this week, but Nintendo has take the 5th amendment on everything around it's E3 press conference.

Looks like Nintendo has some explaining to do. Most likely these rumors will be cleared up at E3, but it would be nice for the folks over seas to receive a triple "A" title first.

Hey, thanks: N-Europe, Kotaku
