It seems you can't toss a World War II game down the aisle of your local GameStop without hitting another WWII game. Thankfully, a developer has realized there are other wars that can be re-enacted on consoles.

The most overly used theme in video games today is World War II, but what of the preceding World War? 1UP details that Kuju Entertainment, now renamed Chemistry, has announced a WWI based video game called "To End All Wars":

"The epically-named To End All Wars was announced on the 4th of July, but its unclear if the game will actually celebrate America's brief entry into this war since the game is being created by a UK developer."

The WWI based game will focus on trench warfare used during the time. GameSpot states:

"Crucially, the experience of the gritty combat in the trenches, the fear of charging across No Man's Land, deadly secret excursions to enemy outposts in the dead of night, and the heart-stopping terror of pounding artillery guns will be central to the gaming experience."

Trench warfare, as described above is not a pretty scenario, making WWI a gritty and bleak war. With chemical weapons and the birth of military technologies like machine guns and tanks, this game will certainly present a different perspective of war.

There are not many games based on WWI due to its history and type of warfare used compared to the constant flow of WWII games. It seems like it wouldn't be fun running into a hail of gunfire or to be attacked by poisonous gas on an open battlefield, but we're confident that it can be done and interested to see how this game turns out.

To End All Wars will be using the Unreal Engine 3 from Epic and will ship out on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in summer 08.

Hey, thanks: GameSpot and 1UP
