MKA was released on the PS2 and Xbox nearly six months ago. The new iteration for the Wii promises gesture control with the Wiimote. How does the Wii's first Mortal Kombat fare?
Gimmicky? Nooooo.
As with any port, most reviewers are going to be looking specifically at new features but with Mortal Kombat Armageddon being re-released for the Wii, most of the criticism is likely to focus on the controls. In Mortal Kombat Armageddon the Wii-mote is used to perform special attacks.
Game pro chimes in with a pretty gruesome assessment of Mortal Kombat's Wii controls:
"Ultimately this feature becomes stale quickly as the motions aren't exactly immersive; wiggling the controller back and forth hardly evokes a mental image of throwing a spear into opponent's neck. They're not hard to pull off, but if executed sloppily, they won't work when you need them to, resulting in about the same failure rate as a standard controller."
With less than extraordinary Wii-mote capabilities Mortal Kombat surely shines in other areas, right? Well the additional content it limited as only one playable character, Khameleon, has been added while the online capabilities remain lackluster.
IGN comments on the lack of additional content:
"The additional fighter is welcomed, but she hardly makes up for the lack of online play, which is why Armageddon has received a lower score on Wii than its counterparts. Even with a lower score, this is Wii's best fighter and we can safely recommend it to any franchise fan."
And, if you're wondering what has happened to some sites reviews, well it seems that Midway is being a little stingy with it's review materials.
Check this out from 1up:
"Someone felt left out when Milky talked about top-tier fighting games in some preview a while back and neglected to mention MK, and EGM didn't score previous Mortal Kombat games as high as some of our competitors did. So Midway has decided to not send us review code at all as some sort of punishment."
Let's hope 1up and midway can resolve their differences and be friends
In all the general consensus is; don't buy Mortal Kombat Armageddon if you're already enjoying it on another console. If not and you're ready to spill some blood on the Wii then definitely check this title out!! As for Midway, if they continue not sending review material to all their dedicated press... well I've got one word for them, FATALITY!!!

But Sub-Zero look so adorable in that snowmobile! Look at that picture! Hahahahah... That's the most cutest thing I've ever seen. And MK is suppose to be about brutality. With that picture alone, it's worth a rent. Kind of reminds me of puzzle fighter. Mortal Kombat Kids!
