#5 Psylocke - [ Playstation ]

(from Marvel Super Heroes for Arcade)
A Marvel comic-book character flushed into the video game world, Psylocke's ninja like teleportation moves and fancy footwork made her a formidable fighter in several of the Marvel Super Heroes/Capcom cross-over titles. Psylocke also starred in a few side-scrolling action games (such as the X-Men title for Genesis).

#4 Kratos - [ PS2 ]

(from God of War for PlayStation 2)
Kratos is another self-suffering character who's the victim of his own desires. But what makes this Greek mythology-based character so cool is his repertoire of deadly and vicious moves. Using two chains capped with swords extend and return to him as if they were anchored to springs, Kratos can pop enemies in the air, where then can be juggled (just like Dante). Fancy blade-work aside, Kratos has some awesome up-close-and-personal moves--such as being able to grab an enemy and rip them completely in half.

#3 Dante - [ PS2 ]

(from Devil May Cry for PlayStation)
When Dante bust on the scene, he showed gamers you could do stuff that before then one only dreamed about. Complete with long overcoat, arrogant swagger, and cocky one-liners, Dante could swat enemies in the air with a sword, and then juggle them with a steady flow of bullets from his dual pistols. He could also handle his sawed-off shotgun with one hand and blow enemies to smithereens, or holster his weapons and take on enemies mano-a-mano.

#2 Clint - [ SNES ]

(from Wild Guns for the SNES)
Futuristic pistol-packing gunslinger based on a famous movie icon (guess who?) Clint makes the list for his businesslike gunplay and occasional hand-to-hand fighting skills. Unfortunately, few people had the opportunity to see him (or the second player, Annie), as the game didn't fare well sales-wise, which is a shame.

#1 Chakan - [ Genesis ]

(from Chakan for the Genesis)
Based on the comic-book character by RAK Graphics, Chakan was a warrior/priest who boasted of his sword-wielding skills so often that Death challenged him to a duel, and lost. Chakan's reward was immortality, but this carried a hefty price and the only way he could earn back his mortality was by killing all the evil on the planet. Chakan earns marks because this is one of the few games where your character could not die, but only be "defeated" (and, hence, start the level over again).
