For those about to rock... don't look at this cover!

3. Game Developer, August 2003

The contents page of this issue explains the cover thus:

"The cover, created by Harmonix's Ryan Lesser, started as a Photoshop sketch that was then imported into 3DS Max. A high-resolution version of 13,000 polygons with large textures (1024x1024) was then posed using Character Studio. The backdrop is the Amplitude Neotropolis arena (10,000 polygons, with many small maps), originally modeled and mapped by Adolph Wong. The image's resolution was increased using 3DS Max's Depth of Field to achieve the blur effect. Finally, it was cleaned up a tiny bit in Photoshop."

Ryan's a talented guy and he still does art for Harmonix's games today, but I can't help but wonder what went through his mind as he decided upon this pose. Was he fresh from a trip to Tijuana or Bangkok's red-light district?
