9. Next Generation, June 1995

The problem with a print magazine is that, unlike websites which go up and down like the wind, there are no do-overs. You're just as beholden to what you wrote 10 years ago as you were last month. Think about the situation that puts a magazine like Next Generation in, one that always prided itself on covering the bleeding edge of gaming. It's six years later, you're covering the Xbox and trying to convince readers that Halo will change console gaming, and all it takes is one reader to say, "Hey, remember in 1995 when you put that scary, stiff-looking character model with the vacant stare on your cover and said it was 'to die for'?" to realize your hyperbole might fall on a few deaf ears.
