If the cover subject of a magazine is a person, then he/she should be staring right at the reader. That's one of the cardinal rules of magazine design (it helps the mag attract customers at the bookstore rack), but the law has a tendency to backfire if said cover subject is ugly as all sin and suffers from the worst affliction of lazy eye since Columbo. Maybe Oddworld's characters aren't the most photogenic to most people, but the late, highly-lamented GameFan wasn't doing any favors for itself with this art.
