Microsoft representatives have confirmed the announcement in a statement released at .
Robbie Bach, chief Xbox officer for Microsoft, had quite a bit to say about the announcement. "Renowned development studios around the world are busy putting the finishing touches on their Xbox 360 games." Bach added that he expected a "strong portfolio of titles on launch day and through the holidays" and that every genre would be represented. He also confirmed that over 200 Xbox 360 games are currently in development.
Also of note is the NYT's coverage of the story, in which they quote Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter, who said that Microsoft was "supply constrained" and he was expecting Microsoft to have in the area of two million consoles ready to ship to retailers worldwide.
